Treatment Approaches

A unique plan is developed for each client using a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches. Clients participate in establishing an individualized plan with measurable goals and specific steps to track, assess and measure progress. In order to remain on track as treatment progresses, these goals are refined and reevaluated with ongoing feedback. I coordinate with medical and school professionals and maintain a network of up-to-date professional and community partnerships to refer clients according to their specific needs.

“Dr. Lapin always brought me back to my original plan when I swayed off course, reminding me of my goals until they were met!”

Parents and families develop a sense of confidence as they establish competence in managing their children’s day to day development.

Adults reset their daily compass, removing barriers to success and happiness in their personal and professional relationships.

Teens experience a sense of trust as they learn to navigate relationships and manage the explosion of confusing messages they receive from their culture, society, the media, the internet and our current political world climate.

Children learn relaxation and coping skills to regulate the many emotions they experience like sponges, absorbing stress within their family, social and school environment.

Some of the evidenced-based approaches I use most often:

SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy) is a short-term approach that is solution focused, goal directed, oriented in the present and future, and rooted in the concept of resiliency.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive evidenced based approach for the treatment of past traumatic experiences which get locked in the nervous system. Healing occurs using bilateral stimulation to unlock the stuck memories and process the experience, reducing disturbing symptoms.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a short term, goal oriented treatment approach with practical applications to problem solving by changing patterns of thinking and behavior leading to improvements in managing emotions.

Play Therapy  uses a variety of play and creative art techniques tailored to the child’s interest. This approach allows expression of emotional issues alleviating behavioral problems.
